Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 1 January 2026 · Last Updated: 7 October 2026
LNPK Business Private Limited ("we", "our", "us") operates the Passbook mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information Passbook accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected. Passbook is designed to work on your device — your financial messages are read and processed locally and are not uploaded to our servers.
1. Information the App Accesses
SMS messages (on your device)
With your permission, Passbook reads the SMS messages on your phone in order to detect transaction messages from banks and payment apps — credits, debits, UPI, NEFT, IMPS and card alerts. From those messages it extracts details such as the amount, date, account or card reference and whether it was money in or money out, so it can build your passbook. This reading and processing happens entirely on your device.
Transaction and balance data
The credits, debits, balances and account summaries that Passbook creates from your SMS are stored locally on your device so the App can display your passbook. This data is not transmitted to us.
Device and usage data
We may collect basic, non-identifying technical information (device model, OS version, app version) and anonymous crash or diagnostic data to keep the App stable and fix bugs.
Passbook does not ask for and does not collect your bank login, card number, ATM PIN, UPI PIN, CVV or net-banking credentials. It never connects to your bank.
2. SMS Permission and How It Is Used
Passbook requests SMS read permission for one purpose only: to recognise financial transaction messages and record them in your passbook. Your SMS messages are processed on your device and are not sold, transferred, or shared with any third party. We use the SMS permission in a manner consistent with the Google Play Developer Program Policies, including the Permissions and SMS policies. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; Passbook will then be unable to detect new transactions automatically.
3. How We Use Information
- To read transaction SMS on your device and build your credits, debits, balances and transaction passbook
- To display your accounts, totals and transaction history inside the App
- To process subscription payments through UPI AutoPay / Google Play
- To respond to support enquiries and notify you of important changes
- To keep the App stable and fix crashes
4. How Your Data Is Stored and Protected
Your SMS content, transactions and balances are stored locally on your device. Because this data stays on your phone, it is protected by your device's own security (screen lock, encryption). Any limited technical or billing data we handle is protected with industry-standard security. If you uninstall the App or clear its data, the passbook data stored on your device is removed.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell or share your SMS, transactions or balances with advertisers, lenders, data brokers or any other third party. Limited information may be handled only by:
- Payment and app-store providers — strictly to process your subscription
- Authorities — if required by valid Indian law (court order, subpoena, regulatory request)
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Grant or revoke SMS permission at any time from your device settings
- Delete all Passbook data on your device by clearing the App's data or uninstalling it
- Contact us to request deletion of any limited account or support records — see our Delete Account page
7. Children
Passbook is a financial tool and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated inside the App or on this page. Continued use of Passbook after the changes take effect indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
